Units include

Understanding the use of interpersonal skills:

In this unit the candidate will be required to develop an understanding of the qualities necessary for a helping interview. This will include how to use interpersonal skills and the importance of a safe environment and confidentiality. The candidate will also develop an understanding of the
process of referral.

Demonstrating Interpersonal Skills:

The candidate will be required to understand and apply the concept of self-awareness. This will include evaluating his/her own need for self development and identifying ways of addressing these needs. The candidate will demonstrate the use of basic challenging skills and use interpersonal skills in an applied context.

Facilities for students:
You will have full use of our Library facilities including book borrowing and computers.

We also have a refectory and Coffee Cart available.

Assessment: The assessment for the Level 1 National Award in Interpersonal Skills consists of an internally assessed portfolio of evidence, which is assessed and internally verified by centre staff and externally verified by NCFE.

Candidates must be successful in all elements of the assessment to gain the Level 1 National Award in Interpersonal Skills.

Entry Requirements:
No previous training or experience required. However, a basic level of numeracy and literacy is required to comply with the Health and Safety and minimum aspects of the award.

Progression and links:
This qualification would be useful to candidates wishing to progress into a number of Level 2 qualifications in areas where interpersonal skills are of importance. Examples of such areas would be care work, counselling, customer service, community work, youth work, drug awareness, childcare and education.

Home/EU students tuition fees (per year): 2: £90 3: £190

The cost of these courses are split into 3 categories. Category 1: If you are aged between 19-23 years and are studying at the level of your chosen course for the first time. This applies to Level 1, 2 and 3 courses. If this is your first level 3 course, the upper age limit is 24. Category 2: If you are in receipt of a 'work- related' benefit such as Job Seekers Allowance, or that you can self-certify (sign a form) that you are actively seeking work. Category 3: if you do not sit within Categories 1 or 2, this will be the cost you will need to pay for your course.
