Course aims:
This course is an ideal qualification for those seeking to enhance their functional role through the use of counselling skills (eg. Nurses, social workers).
It will also be useful to people seeking a career change and wishing to develop as professional counsellors and to anyone offering counselling skills on a one-to-one basis.
It will also be of use to those wishing to consolidate their skills and knowledge in a counselling context. Issues of health and safety of both the candidate and the ‘client’ are of key importance.

Learning is partly experiential and therefore personal development is an inherent part of the course.

You will have full use of our Library facilities including book borrowing and computers.
We also have a refectory and Coffee Cart available.
Assessment: The NCFE Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory assessment consists of 2 components:

Entry Requirements:
Candidates are required to have undertaken counselling skills training, ie. Level 2 Award in Helping Skills or equivalent. Candidates should also have an awareness of difference and diversity, be motivated towards developing as a conselling practitioner, be able to benefit from self-development and possess emotional stability. They should also possess the ability to translate intra-personal experience into language and form a helping relationship. You must be 19 years of age to study on this course.
