Course aims:
In this year long course, you’ll gain the extra units needed to convert your 2330-01 level 2 qualification and your 2330-07 level 3 qualification into a full level 3 diploma which will make you a fully qualified electrician.
The course consists of a theory and practical units, by the end of the year you will have demonstrated that you are able to work at a professional standard.

Facilities for students:
This course is based at the Main Campus for City College in the heart of Brighton.
The Electrical Department is in a purpose-built unit, with modern, well-equipped workshop facilities and classrooms with computers.
There is an excellent cafeteria service in the Tower Block and central Brighton with many cafes etc is on our doorstep.
Tutors:
The Electrical Department consists of a small, committed and experienced team of lecturers and assessors.
All our staff are qualified and experienced electricians. We have a mixture of full-time and part-time staff.
Assessment: The assessments for the theory unit is are a mixture of exams and practical assessment. The practical units are assessed in the workplace, by observation and portfolio work.

Entry Requirements:
Successful completion of the 2330-01 L2 Technical Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology and the 2330-07 L3 Technical Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology
If you are applying from another college, you will need to bring proof that you have completed the 2330-01and 2330-07 qualification.

On completion of this course there are a number of other short courses which may be useful – eg Inspection and Testing (2391-10), the Design course (2391-20), 17th Edition Regulations (2382) and Portable Appliance Testing (2377).

Further information: Students must provide their own steel-toe-capped boots. You will not be allowed in the workshop without them. It is also expected that students will buy a copy of the On-Site Guide (approx £20) and a textbook (approx £20).
