Course aims:
The CG2330 Level 3 Technical Certificate is part of the process towards becoming a fully qualified electrician.
The other qualification you need to become a fully qualified electrician is the CG2356 NVQ3 in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Installation - Building and Structures), which can be completed at the same time or the following year.
The CG2330 Technical Certificate can form part of the NVQ3.
Course content:
On this course you will study:
- Application of health and safety and electrical principles
- Installation (buildings and structures): Inspection, testing and commissioning
- Installation (buildings and structures): fault diagnosis and rectification
Facilities for students:
This course is based at the Main Campus for City College in the heart of Brighton.
The Electrical Section is in a purpose-built unit, with modern, well-equipped workshop facilities and classrooms with computers.
There is an excellent cafeteria service in the Tower Block and central Brighton with many cafes etc is on our doorstep.
The NVQ portfolio can be built on-line or on hard copy.
Tutors:
The Electrical Department comprises of a committed and experienced team of lecturers and assessors.
All our staff are qualified and experienced electricians. We have a mixture of fulltime and part-time staff.
Assessment:
- 1 x multiple choice exam
- 2 x written paper exams
- 2 x practical assessments

Entry Requirements:
You will have already successfully completed the CG2330 Level 2 Technical Certificate or equivalent.
The other entry requirements are 2 Cs at GCSE in Maths and English.
However, we encourage applications from mature students and if you do not hold these grades, then an assessment of your abilities will be made at interview and a place offered on the course will be based on this.

This course will help you find work in the electrical industry and is one of the best ways of demonstrating your competence and understanding of electrical installation work.
