Course aims:
This course will enable you to achieve a GCSE in mathematics. It will also help develop a positive attitude to the subject and an ability to solve problems; to read, write, use, apply and talk about the subject with confidence and enjoyment.

The course runs at foundation level for those who have not yet achieved a ‘C’ grade. The highest grade you can achieve at foundation level is a ‘C’.

A higher course will run for those who have already achieved a ‘C’ and need to top up.

Last year 83% of students achieved a grade ‘C’

Course content:

Calculating with numbers, algebra, probability, solving problems using shape, space and measure.
Using calculators and computers to enhance understanding of number and geometry
Using statistics to handle , represent data and interpret it
Using maths to solve real-life problems from the credit cards to comparing business solutions.

Tutors:
Corina Fairman is a highly qualified and experienced maths teacher who has worked extensively with the over 19s for the last 7 years.

Assessment: 2 final exam papers in June 2012

Awarding Body: Edexcel

Entry Requirements:
All candidates will be assessed to see if their current maths ability is sufficient to cope with this intensive course.

GCSE Higher Maths: candidates must already hold a ‘C’ grade to enrol on the Higher course.

Interview for entry: Interview required
