Course aims:
This business course is suitable if you are an employee who is looking to improve your skills and knowledge in Human Resource Management.
After you successfully complete this course you’ll receive the nationally recognised Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development new Certificate in Human Resource Management Practice.
Subjects covered include HR planning and the organisational context, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and employee relations.

Assessment: Students are assessed in a variety of methods including reports, presentations, practical skills activities and reflective statements. All assignments are work based and involve you analysing work based experience with the knowledge you learn on the course.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal academic qualifications required for entry to this course. The course is suitable if you are working in HR or an HR related field. However, as you will have to complete work-based assignments you would be expected to be educated to level 2 standard ( eg GCSE or equivalent) and have carried out some work in an HR environment before or during the course. Before starting the course it is recommended that you read articles on HR issues and become more familiar with the wide area of work involved in HR.
You would have to join the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Pre-entry preparation:
Additional work is anticipated to normally take at least four hours per week. You will be required to complete coursework, reading around the subject area and reflect on your own development and practice. It is difficult to be precise with the extra time needed as each student has their own particular needs within their own context. The course is strongly and directly linked to the training role and therefore some of the coursework will link into the students practice.
Progression and links:
Upon completion of this course you may wish to progress to further qualifications such as the Institute’s professional course of study or the Certificate in Business Awareness and Advanced Professional Study. Successful candidates are eligible to apply for Associate Membership of the Institute.
This well recognised qualification enables candidates to enter or progress within the HR department of an organisation.

You will need to be in an associated work placement or able to access associated an work placement from the start of this course.
