Course aims:
This hands on beauty course will prepare you to work as a nail technician in hair or beauty salons, nail bars, hotels or in a self-employed capacity. Throughout the course you’ll learn a range of skills including how to professionally give manicures and pedicures, apply Gel Nails, maintain salon health and safety and you’ll also learn about nail technology and anatomy and physiology,
At the end of the course you’ll receive a VTCT Level 2 qualification, as recognised by the Nail industry.
The course also includes Health and safety Level 2 qualification.
You may also wish to progress from this course onto Level 2 Beauty Therapy, which can also be studied as a Part-time course.

The college has excellent facilities for both theory and practical work.
These include 3 large well-equipped and recently modernised Beauty/Holistic salons and a large reception area that serves both Hair and Beauty.
Tutors:
The Beauty and Holistic Department is managed by Georgia Christoforou.
The Beauty and Holistic team is staffed by highly motivated tutors that are passionate about their subjects and have excellent links with employers.
The course tutor for this course is Michele Crawley who is a highly skilled Beauty therapist and Nail technician with many years experience.
Assessment: Written Assignments, Written and Practical Assessments in a commercial environment, Case Studies, multiple choice exam.

Entry Requirements:
No formal qualifications are necessary; however an interview will be required. Successful candidates will be expected to place an order for the nail extensions kit and manicure kit.
Learners must demonstrate they are able to fully commit to the course in order to reach the required standard necessary to work in the nail industry.

Progression and links:
There are various courses that the Nail Technician may want to attend in order to further their career, including Beauty Therapy, Indian Head Massage ,Body massage& aromatherapy.
This qualification enables the therapist to work in industry as a manicurist and Nail technician.
Work experience opportunities:
Students are encouraged to work in industry & to be applying treatments outside their class time. It is expected that students should practice on models outside of class time to build skills.

The cost of these courses are split into 3 categories. Category 1: If you are aged between 19-23 years and are studying at the level of your chosen course for the first time. This applies to Level 1, 2 and 3 courses. If this is your first level 3 course, the upper age limit is 24. Category 2: If you are in receipt of a 'work- related' benefit such as Job Seekers Allowance, or that you can self-certify (sign a form) that you are actively seeking work. Category 3: if you do not sit within Categories 1 or 2, this will be the cost you will need to pay for your course.
