Course aims:
This course meets the paediatric first aid requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework. It looks at possible emergency scenarios that are faced by professionals looking after young children.

This course is for people working with young children e.g. childminders, Nursery staff and teachers dealing with younger children.

Course content:

Managing incidents
First Aid Priorities
Resuscitation
Choking
Asthma and diabetic emergencies
Head injuries
Seizures
Burns
Bleeding
Poisoning, bites and stings
Childhood conditions (e.g. meningitis, croup, measles)
First Aid kits
Regulations
Recording and reporting

Assessment: There are practical assessments carried out throughout the course and a 25 question multiple choice test on the final day.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for the course.

After this course you may wish to complete the Full First Aider Certificate (HSE Approved.
