Course aims:
On this course you’ll increase your understanding and knowledge of advanced anatomical, physiological and pathological principles that are relevant to the application of Sports massage.

It will provide you with advanced palpation skills and how to analyse posture and range of movement. You’ll also develop a wide range of advanced massage skills and massage techniques to prevent and manage injury in sport and active leisure.

This programme is endorsed by the Sports Massage Association at Level 4 and graduates will be eligible for Level4 registration with the Sports Massage Association.

Course content:
The course consists of the following units:

A variety of teaching and learning methods are used including lecture, demonstration, individual project work group work and discussion.

Facilities for students:
The college has excellent facilities for both theory and practical work.
These include 3 large, well-equipped and recently modernised Beauty/Holistic salons and a large reception area that serves both Hair and Beauty.

Tutors:
The Beauty and Holistic team is staffed by highly motivated tutors that are passionate about their subjects and have excellent links with employers.

The lecturer on this course is Nathalie Mineau, a highly skilled Massage and Craniosacral therapist with twenty years experience.

Entry Requirements:
Candidates must be in possession of one of the following

Candidates must also be in possession of a Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate or be willing to gain a certificate during the year.

Candidates should ideally be working in industry as they will be required to produce a logbook recording at least 100 hours of massage treatment across a range of sports environments.

Progression and links:
After successfully completing this course there are various other Part-time Holistic courses such as Reflexology, Aromatherapy & Indian Head Massage and can lead to further full time courses in osteopathy or acupuncture.

This qualification enables the therapist to work in industry as a therapist in sport centres, a manager or clinic owner or even to tutor level 1- 3 sports massage practitioners.

Further information: Candidates will be required to be working in industry as they will be required to produce a logbook of at least 100 hours of massage treatment across a range of sports environment. This logbook must comprise a minimum of 12 clients who should be actively involved in a sport or physical activity.

Candidates will also produce a case study containing at least 6 treatment sessions.
