Course aims:
This is an ideal course if you are looking to enhance your career potential within the digital media design industry. It will provide you with a broad understanding and application of current web design software and practices. You’ll examine the complexities of designing and building websites. Also you’ll gain experience of working with animation and other interactive design processes. You will use most of the following software programmes:
The course is currently taught on Mac platforms, but the skills and practices are readily transferable to PC use.

Facilities for students:
Students will be based at our City College Main Campus where we have
extensive and excellent facilities for practical and theory work. These
include: Apple Macintosh computer suite running industry level digital media design software, namely Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop and other digital / interactive design related software.
Tutors:
The tutor assigned to this course has extensive experience in teaching this course and working with a range of digital media design software and in particular interactive design related packages. The tutor also has extensive industry experience in the areas of digital media design across a range of areas and practices.
Assessment: Assessment will be ongoing on a Unit by Unit basis within the course and through a process of Formative Assessment. Students must have at least a minimum Pass grade in all the 4 Units of study to achieve the final BTEC Certificate.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have some practical experience in the visual arts, preferably within interactive media, and a genuine desire to develop interactive media skills for career development. You will need access to a computer with Adobe Dreamweaver/Photoshop/illustrator and related software, to use in your own time. Some initial research or reading may be set.

The cost of these courses are split into 3 categories. Category 1: If you are aged between 19-23 years and are studying at the level of your chosen course for the first time. This applies to Level 1, 2 and 3 courses. If this is your first level 3 course, the upper age limit is 24. Category 2: If you are in receipt of a 'work- related' benefit such as Job Seekers Allowance, or that you can self-certify (sign a form) that you are actively seeking work. Category 3: if you do not sit within Categories 1 or 2, this will be the cost you will need to pay for your course.
