Entry Level Programme Work Experience Success

Entry Level Programme Year 1 learners have recently completed a fortnight of work experience and it went extremely well. There has been outstanding feedback from local employers and the learners have come back buzzing with enthusiasm about what they have achieved, which goes towards their Edexcel Entry Level Certificate in Skills for Working Life.

Employers include:

James Pierce

James Pierce enjoyed a work placement at the Club Shop of his beloved Brighton & Hove Albion and his attitude to work was appreciated by Shop Manager Ian Green:

"James was a pleasure to have around. We gave him lots to do and he knuckled down right away. He’s a very friendly lad, he worked hard and was willing to learn all the aspects of the job."

James adds:

"It was ideal for me because I’m such a big fan of the club and sport in general. There was also a good variety of jobs to get on with which made it special too."

Tristan Honhold

Tristan Honhold conducted his work experience at Jessops Camera Store. The job involved helping the store manager with all aspects of running the shop – dealing with customers, taking orders.

Jessops lent Tristan a digital camera for a few days and he took photos of the London Road area which he was allowed to print out and experiment with. Tristan is a very talented photographer and has since been asked to take photos for a family wedding. Tristan also completed a very successful infill course doing GNVQ Art for 4 weeks at City College.

Tristan says:

"I really enjoyed my work experience and the Art course. I have met lots of new people and it has given me more confidence."

Kate, Tristan’s tutor says:

"Tristan was quite shy when he first came to us. After 2 weeks at Jessops, he really came out of his shell and has proved how talented he is in all aspects of Art and Design – his drawings and photos are truly outstanding”.
