Plumbing & Electrical Apprenticeships in Brighton

 

Earn and learn with a Plumbing or Electrical Apprenticeship. You will gain the skills and expertise to get ahead in the job market.


Duration: 24 Months

Start Date: September and January

Course Content: You will learn, develop and practice the skills required to provide general maintenance tasks which will include:

  • Understand and carry out site preparation and pipework fabrication techniques for domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • Understand and apply domestic cold/hot water system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Understand and apply domestic central heating system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Install and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • Conforming to general health and safety in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

Assessment: Assessment will be through a range of assessment techniques including workplace observations, on-line tests and the production of a portfolio of workplace evidence and knowledge.

Progression: Following successful completion of the Apprenticeship you may want to further develop your skills by enrolling onto a Level 3 qualification.

Entry Requirements: To do this course you are required to have one of the following 5 GCSEs grade A – E to include English and Maths or an equivalent level 1 qualification in the same vocational subject. If you meet the criteria you will be invited to interview with one of the Construction tutors.

Duration: 4 Years

Start Date: September

Course Content: You will learn, develop and practice the skills required to provide complex tasks which will include:

  • Understanding environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
  • Understanding the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Understanding the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords in electrical systems
  • Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults
  • Inspecting, testing, commissioning and certifying electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Conforming to general health and safety in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

Assessment: Assessment will be through a range of assessment techniques including workplace observations, on-line tests and the production of a portfolio of workplace evidence and knowledge..

Progression: Following successful completion of the Apprenticeship you may want to further develop specific skills within the Electrical trade.
