- Take lots of business cards with you
- Be prepared to explain what you do in a couple of sentences
- Before attending an event think about what you want to get out of it
- Be brave – speak to one or two new people at each event. You will always recognise people at events but try not to speak to the same people every time
- The easiest way to start up a conversation is introduce yourself and ask what they do
- Remember to follow up your contacts as soon as possible. You may want to drop an email or follow up on Twitter or Linked in

- You need a clear strategy – ask your clients where they network
