Train to Gain is a government initiative which allows employers to take advantage of free or partly funded training provision for their employees.
If your business is to be successful you need to compete, and to compete you need to train your employees. For businesses, getting the right skills and training staff appropriately are critical to success,
Train to Gain helps you to do this by identifying training needs and ensuring that training is delivered to meet your business needs.
The first step in benefiting from Train to Gain is for your business to undertake a skills analysis with a City College Skills Advisors.
The Train to Gain advice service is FREE to employers. For those staff that do not have the equivalent of a first full Level 2 (e.g. NVQ2) or Level 3 (NVQ3) qualification, full funding is available subject to eligibility criteria.
For staff who have already achieved NVQ Level 2, we can provide a selection of repeat Level 2 qualifications and Level 3 repeats for SME employers who have up to 250 employees.
Organisations with fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees are eligible for a contribution towards wage cost based on achievement of the qualification. A payment of £5 per hour or actual wage for every hour an employee is released from normal work up to a maximum of 70 hours can be cliamed for each employee. Applications for funding must be made to Skills South East when the learner starts and applications cannot be made after the learner has completed. Employers will have to provide valid evidence of the above. Payment is made on achievement of the qualifications and is payable through the LSC National Office.
All employers are eligible regardless of size, sector, location or ownership including charitable organisations. Please visit the Train to Gain Eligibility pages for more information.
