Your accommodation is an important part of your stay in the UK and being in homestay accommodation gives you a good introduction to life here. It helps you to learn the language faster, learn about cultural differences and helps you feel at home by providing a welcoming and comfortable environment.
We have a diverse population in Brighton and this is reflected in the wide range of people who provide homestay accommodation. Although most of our homestays consist of two parents with children, we have many experienced and friendly homestay providers who have different living arrangements – some are older couples with no children at home, some are single parents with children and some are single adults.
You will have your own room where you can sleep and study. Breakfast and evening meals are included as well as one load of laundry per week (towels and sheets are provided). You will not be charged any extra for bills such as heating and light. Most hosts have Internet access. You will be given your own front door key.
We have some hosts who provide self catering accommodation this means that you can use the kitchen to cook your own food which you buy yourself. You will have storage space in the kitchen and agree convenient times to use the kitchen. You must be able to cook to qualify for this accommodation
You can rent a flat or house to share with other students. You will normally have to sign a contract for the academic year, pay a deposit and very often you will need to find a person in England who will act as a Guarantor.
There are many bed and breakfasts and hotels to suit all tastes and budgets. Please contact us with your price range and as much information as possible regarding your requirements and we try to advise you. However, the website www.visitbrighton.com/site/accommodation has up-to-date information regarding available accommodation and an on-line booking service.
There are 2 universities in Brighton with several rooms in halls of residence which are available in the summer months. However, these get booked up well in advance and we cannot guarantee availability. Please send us the dates you wish to stay and we can check what options are possible.
