Applying for a Visa
Important information regarding visa's & TB screening
Once we have received payment of your deposit we will then send you an Acceptance (visa) letter addressed to the British Embassy or British High Commission in your country. Applying for a visa can take time so we recommend that you begin the process as early as possible. Be aware that the earliest you can get a visa is 3 months before you intend to travel.
In order to obtain a visa, you will need to visit your British Embassy and show the following:
- An acceptance letter stating that you have been accepted for a course at an institution included on the Department for Education and Skills' Register of Education and Training Providers. City College Brighton and Hove is on this list.
- That the course is at least 15 hours per week of full-time day study at one institution
- That you can meet the cost of your fees, your maintenance and the maintenance of any dependants you take with you. This information can be from you or your sponsor.
- That you intend to leave the UK at the end of your course.

TB screening
Nationals of the following countries now have to undergo TB screening before applying for entry clearance/a student visa for the UK:
- Bangladesh
- Ghana
- Kenya (which also take applications from residents of Eritrea and Somalia)
- Pakistan
- Sudan
- Tanzania
- Thailand (which also takes applications from Cambodia and Laos)
If you are a national of a TB-endemic country, we suggest contacting your local British Embassy or British High Commission to check the likelihood of being screened upon arrival in the UK. They may advise being screened before travelling to the UK, but you would need to confirm this before travelling.
