Art & Design UAL Foundation Diploma

International Foundation Programme

If you want to pursue a career in Art and Design then this course is for you. You will explore the breadth and diversity of the subject and experiment with a range of working methodologies to make an informed choice about which aspect of Art and Design you should follow at University. This course is extremely popular, early application is advised.

Course Content:

Stage 1: Exploratory assignments and workshops to help you to develop a wide range of transferable art and design skills, techniques and processes. At the end of this stage your work will be assessed to decide which specialist pathway they should follow. The four pathways of study are:
• Fine Art
• Graphics & Illustration
• Fashion & Textiles
• 3D Design

Stage 2: Develop skills and understanding of the specialist pathway in greater depth. Build a portfolio in preparation for University.

Stage 3: You will undertake a self initiated final major project which culminates in an exhibition at the end of the course. At this stage the work is externally assessed.

Historical and Contextual studies run alongside studio practice during the exploratory stage and an educational visit to Europe is organised to support both the contextual studies programme and the drawing programme.

Progression:

The Art and Design Foundation Programme is the preferred progression route to Higher Education Art & Design specialised study.

This course has an excellent track record of placing students at prestigious universities and art colleges throughout the UK, such as University of the Arts (Central St Martins); University of Creative Arts; University of Nottingham; University of Brighton; University of Bournemouth.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

CEFR B2 Upper Intermediate (IELTS 5.5 with 5.5 in writing)

Applicants will be required to submit a portfolio of recent art and design work for a portfolio review. This can be submitted electronically. Please contact us for further information.
