Immigration Rules

Important rules to be aware of:

You must meet the following immigration rules in order get a Tier 4 student visa or entry clearance as a student:

• You must have received Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies from us, your Tier 4 sponsor. This means that City College Brighton & Hove is sponsoring your immigration application.
• The course must be Level 3 on the National Framework of Qualifications or if you are studying English, it needs to be Level B1. We are not permitted by the immigration rules to accept you onto any other courses if you are an international student.
• You must show that you have the appropriate qualifications for the course.
• You must be able to meet the costs of your course (full fees) and maintenance (£600 per month of the course up to a maximum of 9 months) and the maintenance of dependents if you want to bring them with you.

If you are a non-EU national, you must not seek entry as a visitor if you intend to study. If your course is under 6 months, then you can apply for a Student Visitor Visa. However, you cannot switch from visitor or student visitor to student status once you are in the UK and you will not be able to work. If you are a European Union (EU) National, then you do not need to apply for entry clearance. You are free to travel to the UK without restriction.
