The International Office at City College understands that international students need help to adapt to a new life in the UK. The International Office offers services to support you with setting in and enjoying your time overseas.
The International Student Welfare Advisor is here to help our international students throughout their time at College with any non-academic issues, no matter how big or small. These can range from visa renewal and police registration to homesickness and opening a bank account.
We can help you with advice throughout your course of study as well as guidance at every stage of your application.
Most of our students choose to stay with a homestay in Brighton and Hove. All of your homestays are carefully selected to make sure they understand the needs of international students. They can provide you with the perfect opportunity to experience family life and practise using your English in everyday situations. In your homestay you will have your own room and you will receive breakfast and evening meals. Most of our homestays are a short bus ride from College. An alternative to a homestay is to rent a room or a flat (this is not usually arranged by the College). This can be a more expensive option and it may not be as easy to practise your English or experience family life.
A car can be arranged to meet you at a London airport and take you to your accommodation in Brighton. This service is free.
In England, we do not legally become adults until our 18th birthday. Parents and guardian are responsible for your welfare until this age.
If you are under 18 when you start your course at the College, your parent(s) must appoint a guardian in the UK - ideally someone who lives near to Brighton and Hove. A guardian should be able to act on behalf of your mother or father, including those concerning medical treatment.
We welcome applications from students with disabilities and will assess whether we can meet their needs.
