Summer school English courses in Brighton

Brighton is a great place to spend the summer and we have courses which allow you flexibility to choose when you come, the number of weeks and the number of hours you study.

You can study :

General English

We offer General English lessons throughout the year for students who want to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. We have 4 levels from pre-intermediate (we do not accept beginners). We will test your English on your first day and place you in a class of your level. One course book is included in the fee and you will receive an end of course report and certificate.

Courses dates:

You can start every Monday. Minimum duration is 2 weeks

Conditions of entry:

You must be at least 16 years old
You must have an English level of at least pre-intermediate (CEF A2)

You will study:

15 hours per week in the morning (9.00 – 12.30 including a 30 minute break)

21 hours per week morning + 2 afternoons (1.30 – 5.00 including a 30 minute break)

IELTS Exam Preparation

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It is a universally-accepted standard to test students' levels of English and is the usual English language entry requirement for UK, Australian, Canadian and some American universities. The IELTS Test tests all four language skills - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking and our preparation courses will ensure that you have plenty of exam practice to ensure success. A course book is included in the fee. The exam fee is not included and is approximately £130.

Course dates:

You can start every Monday. Minimum duration is 4 weeks

Conditions of entry:

You must be at least 16 years old
You must have at least an intermediate level of English (IELTS 5.0 /CEF B2)

You will study:

15 hours per week in the morning

21 hours per week (morning + 2 afternoons General English)
The academic IELTS test which is suitable for college or university study

Cambridge First Certificate Preparation

Cambridge University exams are recognised by many employers and universities all over the world. The courses help you to be successful in the exam and to master the skills you need to use English in the real world. The course book is included in the fee. The exam fee is not included and is approximately £130.

Course dates:

2 July – 24 August 2012 (FCE exam on 23 August)
8 week programme

To join the course you must:

be at least 16 years old
have an English level of Intermediate (CEF B1/IELTS 5.0)

You will study:

15 hours per week in the morning OR 21 hours per week (morning + 2 afternoons General English)
