Andy has been teaching English for 11 years in Indonesia, Australia and the UK and currently lectures at City College Brighton. After studying Sociology at the University of Sussex he completed his DELTA teacher training in 2012. He has a professional interest in both the theory and practice of English language teaching. Currently, he is preparing City College students for their IELTS exams and joining in staff cycling adventures across the downs!
Anne is a sessional English language lecturer teaching General English and IELTS exam preparation courses. She's originally from the United States, where she earned her B.A. in English literature and where she worked as a writer and editor for a number of years before pursuing teaching. She has spent the past couple years teaching English as a foreign language in Estonia and Vietnam but now calls Brighton home.
Damian started teaching ESOL at City College in September 2004 and for the last 4 years has co-ordinated and taught on the FCE and CAE courses. Before his arrival at City College, Damian lived and worked in Spain, Greece, Austria and Mexico as an English teacher, and spent several years teaching at a language school in Brighton. Originally from Sunderland, a city in the North East of England, he is a big fan of the football team. Although he hasn’t lived there for over 25 years, you can still detect the melodious, mellifluous and harmonious Sunderland accent in his voice. He also has big dimples.
Matt works as an English Language lecturer in the International department. He is from Brighton, but has only recently moved back after spending nearly 5 years teaching English in a language academy in Vietnam. He really enjoys teaching students from all over the world and always tries to make sure that his lessons are communicative and fun for students. In his free time, he loves playing guitar, football and socialising with friends.
Helen has been teaching English for over seven years, working in China, Australia, New Zealand, Czech Republic and Spain. She has experience teaching at a variety of schools on a range of courses; Business English, General English, Exam classes and she even worked in a military school.Currently, Helen is studying for a doctorate in Education and has just returned from a month travelling in Central America. She enjoys going to the cinema and socialising with friends.
Jo is the Academic Studies Co-ordinator, but also teaches on a number of our courses. She has been teaching for nearly 10 years and has taught in the UK, Portugal and Vietnam. Jo’s love for the UK brought her back to Brighton in April 2013. When the weather is good she loves the outdoor life and spending time camping with family or relaxing on the beach with a barbecue.
Julia has been working at City College teaching English for a year. Before that, she worked as an English teacher in China and Thailand for seven years. She specialises in IELTS teaching. As well as teaching English, she is also into yoga, dance and learning other languages. She can speak French and German fluently and has started to learn Chinese and Italian. Julia likes walking and cycling in the Sussex countryside at weekends.
