Staff Development

City College takes Staff Development very seriously and employees are strongly supported and encouraged to build on the skills and experience relative to their role. Training opportunities on and off-site are provided throughout the year to help staff make the most of their abilities. To enhance the quality of employees’ working lives, training opportunities extend to all staff to enrol on courses related to their leisure interests.

The College has been officially accredited with the ‘Investors in People’ standard. The most recent IIP report stated that:

“The training and development of staff, whether permanent or sessional is at the heart of the culture of the College”

Staff Association

Staff have ready access to confidential welfare and occupational health unit facilities and support. As College employees, staff automatically become members of the Staff Association. The Association organises and promotes social events which bring College staff together such as theatre trips, quiz nights and barbecues.

College Facilities

Staff have access to excellent facilities at the College such as a well-stocked library with a wide range of books, newspapers, magazines and videos. There is also a refectory, where inexpensive, high-quality meals and snacks are available. ‘The Gallery’ training restaurant and the College’s Hair and Beauty salon offer high standards at low prices and staff can take advantage of these excellent facilities.
