Constructing Futures, a government-funded project set up to address the skills shortfall in the local construction industry, has launched its innovative new website www.constructingfutures.co.uk this month.
The website was created in direct response to local employers who identified a lack of easily accessible information about what's going on within the construction industry in the Brighton & Hove and Adur areas. This became evident through consultations with employers during Constructing Futures' first year of operation. The industry is constantly facing new challenges and it needs new initiatives to tackle the current skills shortage. The website is seen by employers as an important step forward. Steve Hayman of construction firm Integra says:

Constructing Futures
'The new website is just what we needed - a one-stop shop for access to training providers and agencies for the local construction industry. If we continue working together we can ensure that we have a well-trained and skilled workforce in the City and surrounding areas. The Constructing Futures project is particularly exciting and the opportunity for construction related taster courses is just what we need to encourage young people into the industry.'
Tarqin Taylor of Bramber Construction says:
'We at Brambers are delighted to see the Constructing Futures project develop another useful initiative. The website is a fantastic portal for those involved in the local industry to keep up with what's going on locally.'
Constructing Futures is a partnership between City College Brighton and Hove, Brighton and Hove City Council and the Learning and Skills Council. It is funded by the South East Development Agency (SEEDA).
