City College Brighton and Hove's Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in Digital Design recently offered 'taster' sessions to local year 11 pupils to experience multimedia training at the college. 35 Pupils from Cardinal Newman, Varndean and Falmer engaged in 3 workshops involving Photoshop, video editing and sound sequencing. They also saw much of the exciting work that is produced by City College students at the College and in industry.
Cardinal Newman student Alex Jones says:

Alex and Bryony sample City College's Digital Design facilities
'The teachers at City College have been really helpful and all the facilities are excellent.' Her classmate Bryony Hamm says:
'Using Cubase in the music technology class was really interesting and it's taught me the sort of skills I'd like to use in the future.'
When City College launched the region's first CoVE in Digital Design last year, they pledged to work closely with local schools wanting to offer a vocational pathway in New Media and Digital Design. Mark Greco, Digital Design CoVE Manager, says:
'We hope that the taster sessions will inspire many of the pupils to engage in the exciting field of interactive media and encourage the budding designers of the future.'
