The Business & Finance Centre at City College Brighton and Hove has been awarded 'Centre of Vocational Excellence' (CoVE) status by the Learning and Skills Council. The award was recently presented to Jon Pugh, Director of Business & Hospitality, by Dr Norman Boyland, Chair of the Council at LSC Sussex. The CoVE is run in partnership with the Business School at Northbrook College in Worthing.
CoVEs are specialist areas of vocational provision characterised by close links between colleges, other providers, business partners, employers and communities. They aim to produce highly qualified and skilled workers with excellent employment and career prospects which meet the skills needs of the local economy.

City College appointed Jon Pugh as Director of Business & Hospitality in 1995 and he has been focusing his efforts on providing flexible training and development solutions to local employers, using lecturers and trainers with wide commercial experience. This has meant working closely with the Learning and Skills Council to meet strict performance standards.
City College delivers a wide variety of courses, from one-day short courses, to tailor-made and fully certificated courses for nearly 2,000 local companies.
