Campaigning Film Gets Brighton Screening

31 January 2005

A short film by a first-time film-maker highlighting the emotive issue of child abuse is to be screened at Brighton's Duke of York's cinema.

'Don't' was made by City College Brighton and Hove student Bruno Sbardella, who came to Brighton from Rome to study video production. Bruno feels that the exploitation of children, particularly on the internet and in TV advertising, needs to be addressed:

'I think that with too many images in the media, they're taking away the boundary between kids and adults. I want my film to make people think about these issues.'

'Don't' will be screened at the Duke of York's on Saturday 5th of Feb at 9:00 pm.

Dan Jubb, Bruno's tutor at City College says:

'Bruno produced several films during the course which showed real promise. His visual approach and natural feel for editing had a positive influence on fellow students. I am glad to see that since finishing the course he has remained dedicated to developing his skills further.'

Bruno feels that his studies at City College provided him with the essential skills to put across his ideas on film: 'Throughout the course on video production at City College, my tutor was very skilled at passing on his experience and giving new points of view - a new approach to filming things.'
