From Friday 15th to Sunday 17th October, City College Brighton and Hove is hosting The Student Film Festival Awards - a celebration of the talents of young film makers. In a series of events in the College's Main Hall, Pelham Street, Brighton, around fifty films from around the world covering a range of genres will be featured and awards will be given for best short film, best short documentary, best music video, best short animation and best feature film. The judging panel for the awards includes award-winning actress and screenwriter Carol Harrison. Carol will also be presenting the awards on Sunday night. Carol's TV work includes starring roles in EastEnders, Kavanagh QC, A Touch of Frost, The Bill, Casualty and London's Burning. No stranger to film, her credits also include such acclaimed British movies as Human Traffic, Quadrophenia and The Elephant Man. Her latest TV movie Martha Jac and Sianco for S4C, recently won eight B.A.F.T.A awards. Carol says:
'I was really thrilled to be asked to support this festival because I've had experience of teaching young people and seeing the potential of budding film-makers. This is a great way to showcase new talent.'

The Festival also features a free workshop on Saturday afternoon for 19-25 year olds, 'An Introduction to Directing ? Creating Performance', in which director Joe Tunmer will demonstrate the necessary skills and techniques to successfully direct actors on screen. To book a place, call 07532 070 577
