Casino staff are winners with City College

12 October 2010

Staff at the Rendezvous Casino at Brighton Marina who successfully completed their Customer Service NVQs via City College Brighton and Hove's City Business Skills department, recently had their success celebrated in a presentation ceremony at the casino. The qualification, which was delivered by City College in the workplace, has helped staff to enhance their customer service skills in a range of roles such as cashier, croupier, welcome host, valet, PA and poker supervisor. Casino Director Campbell Dickson says:

'The staff all passed this qualification with flying colours and it's a great achievement for them and the Casino in general. The mechanics of how City College delivered the NVQs was excellent, especially when you consider all the varying shifts my staff have to work. The College assessors were able to get them through the course in a way that caused no disruption to my business.'

Angie Griffiths, City College's NVQ Assessor in Hospitality, adds:

'Working with members of staff at the Rendezvous Casino was a real pleasure. They were all extremely passionate about delivering excellent customer service no matter what their role was. Having the casino's management strongly behind the training made our role so much easier as we were able to use their own in-house training to cover some aspects of their qualification. The City College Assessors are so proud of all the learners at the casino for completing their qualifications.'

City College's City Business Skills department specialises in employer-based training. The College's team of Skills Advisers can visit employers in the workplace to provide free Training Needs Analysis to identify areas of improvement, providing appropriate solutions which best meet a business's needs, including Short Course Delivery or Apprenticeships. The team also investigate available funding opportunities for training needs, providing a free bespoke service that aims to work with employers to develop a highly skilled workforce within their organisation.
