Students from City College Brighton and Hove have had first-hand experience of working on 'The Penalty King', a new British feature film starring Clare Grogan and Nick Bartlett. The producer of the film is former City College student Charlie Bowden who met writer/director Chris Cook through a work experience placement which was part of her Performing Arts course. Charlie brought in the students to do some vital 'post sync' work on the movie.
When a film is shot, occasionally the sound is unusable, especially on location where planes, wind or traffic can drown out the dialogue. 'Post sync' involves re-recording the speech to match with the original footage. Performing Arts students Scott Hodgson, Tom Coull and Fergus Salder, were directed to re-perform an entire scene from 'The Penalty King'. Despite the dialogue involving the actors screaming 'colourful language' at the top of their lungs in Brighton's Queen's Park, there were thankfully no complaints from nearby residents!

"The students from City College did a fantastic job with the voice-overs. They really took the task on board and were creative and professional. We got exactly what we needed."
Student Scott Hodgson says:
'We were performing in unusual circumstances and the experience was great fun. It gave me a strong sense of being part of the project and an insight into how films are made.'
'The Penalty King' is a British movie production from Twin Track Films. A footballer loses his sight but his fortunes change with the help of an imaginative work colleague and being inspired by memories of his favourite football team.
The movie has been a six year labour of love for writer/director Chris Cook, who found a budget out of nowhere and ploughed his energies into telling the story of the blind leading the blind.
Shooting wrapped just over two years ago and Chris together with Twin Track films and an army of supporters, investors, family and friends have been working hard to bring all the elements together. This is a true British independent film production, with a superb cast, a great story and a killer soundtrack. More details can be found at www.penaltyking.com
