Having achieved the Learning and Skills Council's much-coveted 'Action for Business Colleges' (AfBC) accreditation - a kitemark signalling a college's ability to provide services that are responsive to local employers' needs ? City College Brighton and Hove is offering to pass on its hard-earned knowledge to other Further Education providers, showing how it changed the culture of its whole organisation to be customer-focused. 'Increasing Income through Action for Business Colleges' is an inspirational conference aimed at senior managers, business development personnel, sales & quality managers and people responsible for employer engagement in FE Colleges. The conference is taking place at City College on Monday 19th June 2006.
Gerry Fraser, MD of Adenstar Construction Group says:

Ann Smith - Principal of award-winning City College
'We've been very pleased with the proactive approach City College has taken with Adenstar. This has led to positive developments such as collaborating on creating NVQ qualifications and setting up on-site training facilities. I'm sure other FE providers will find it extremely helpful to learn how the College has looked closely at the needs of their local clients and adapted accordingly.'
The event aims to provide delegates with insight into some of the pit falls, lessons learnt and real benefits of going through the AfBC process - and how this can ultimately transform their organisation. The conference will cover:
? The Employer Journey - how to develop a customer-centric culture.
? The Employer Perspective ? How working with a college has brought business benefit.
? How to prepare for AfBC accreditation.
? The benefits of being an AfBC College.
? Constructing Futures/First Footings - the new brand of education delivery as exemplified by the College's pre-Apprenticeship Construction Skills Training Centre.
There will also be workshops dealing with specifics of employer engagement, curriculum design, managing data and preparing for AfBC accreditation. The price for the event is £235.00 including VAT. Lunch is included. To book a place, email citybusiness@ccb.ac.uk , tel 01273 667756, fax 01273 667787.
