City College Brighton and Hove Multimedia graduate Lindsay Stevens (23) recently fought off hundreds of competitors from 41 countries to win a prize for her animation 'Find a Jumper You Like' at the prestigious D&AD Global Student Awards. Their purpose of the awards is to highlight the best emerging talent within design, advertising and communications courses around the world and promote it to the creative industries globally. The animation was part of the '15 Steps to Climate Cool' brief judged by Greenpeace. Lindsay submitted a narrative-based animation featuring stop-frame animation techniques. The campaign was launched at Glastonbury 2007 with the winning animations projected onto the world-famous Pyramid Stage.
Lindsay attended the lavish awards ceremony at Old Billingsgate, London with tutors Rona Innes and Susan Egan. She was awarded a commendation, £250 and will also appear in the D&AD Student Annual. Over 5,000 copies are mailed to leading business, creative and education professionals worldwide. Multimedia students have previously appeared in the D&AD annual but it is the first time City College has been represented in the awards ceremony, appearing alongside leading London institutes such as the Royal College, Goldsmiths and the Slade as well as universities from as far afield as South Africa, Korea, Australia and USA.

Lindsay says:
'City College was such a friendly, supportive environment and there's no way I'd have won this award without the help of my tutors who were brilliant throughout the course. It was also a real thrill that one of the judges was Carolina Mellis who is one of my favourite animators. It was overwhelming to find out that my animation had been shown at Glastonbury?I just wish I'd been there to see it!'
Garrick Hamm, D&AD Education Chairman says:
"The students' work just gets better and better every year. Gone are the days of Creative Directors drinking their way around every graduate show - now they have the luxury of a little yellow book arriving on their desk. The D&AD Student Annual is the 'Yellow Pages' of the hottest creative talent from the UK and around the globe.'
