City College Brighton and Hove Horticulture students have won a Bronze Medal in the 'Small Gardens' category at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2005. 'The Epicurean Garden', which was designed by student Beccy Pook, features edible plants and is based around the ideas of the Greek philosopher Epicurus. Beccy studied garden design last year and is currently studying towards her RHS General Certificate in Horticulture while setting up her own garden design business. The garden was featured extensively in the BBC's coverage of Hampton Court on Friday July 8th.
Beccy says:

'I'm really pleased with the garden. It's been a rewarding learning experience and I've enjoyed working as a team with the other students. To win the medal and have the BBC film the garden was the icing on the cake.'
Beccy's tutor Bridget Saunders says:
'It's absolutely marvellous that we've won a medal. The best bit about this is that everyone worked as a team bringing different skills to the project.'
RHS Judge Richard Webb says:
'I liked the softness of the garden. It felt very peaceful and there was fantastic use of boundaries.'
Carol Klein, the Presenter of the BBC's 'Gardener's World' says:
"I think the Epicurean Garden is a delight. It's an inspiration to anybody who's interested in growing plants to eat. The whole garden is uplifting and optimistic and it has real integrity - a tribute to all who worked on it."
