"To have five City College students in the top ten in the country out of nearly 16,000 entrants is quite phenomenal and totally due to the commitment and dedication of the students and tutor Maria Hernandez and her team. It also shows the value of adult education and the lifelong learning opportunities that City College continues to offer at the Connaught Centre. These results vindicate the College's decision to continue to offer these and similar fantastic courses at Connaught for many years to come."
Tutor Maria Hernandez says:
'At the start of each academic year I always ask myself, do you believe that all your students can achieve A*? The answer is always 'yes, of course!' I repeat this in my class every week until they believe it. The main goal they have achieved is self-confidence and I'm so proud of their success in the exam.'
Jerry Jarvis, Managing Director of awarding body Edexcel, says:
'This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work the students put into preparing for their exams.'
