City College hosts 'White Night' triumph

1 November 2010

During the hugely successful 'White Night' - Brighton & Hove's unique all night cultural festival which takes place every year on the last Saturday in October when the clocks go back ? one of the most talked-about events took place in the usually functional setting of the City College Brighton and Hove car park in North Laine. During hourly shows throughout the evening, hundreds gathered to see 'Antigravity' in which a huge luminous globe levitated, soared and sent out dazzling beams of light to a dynamic soundtrack.

Brighton writer/artist Wendy Greenhalgh, who attended the event, says:

'Antigravity was surreal and magical and definitely one of the most exciting things I saw during White Night. It's great to see my local College supporting local artists by hosting an event like this.'

Antigravity was an Anglo-French commission by Brighton artist Steve Geliot and Brighton-based French writer JD Beauvallet. Steve Geliot says:

'I have to say a big thank you to City College for letting us use their space for Antigravity. It was such a great experience and a perfect location for the event.'
Antigravity was also displayed in Amiens in France - Brighton's sister city - for their 'Nuit Blanche' celebrations which took place on October 16th.
