City College launches 'Skillslab'

6 June 2006

As part of City College's strategy to encourage employers to use the state-of-the-art digital design facilities that it has to offer, the College's Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in Digital Design has extended its activities to launch Skillslab ? its employer-focussed digital skills training arm.

The aim of Skilllslab is to offer the kind of digital training that is needed in the modern workplace. Training is available as either 'off the peg' courses or can be delivered on a bespoke basis to meet specific needs. This training includes learning skills in many of the digital design packages such as Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, 3D max and Dreamweaver. Skillslab can also provide training in other aspects such as digital photography, e-commerce and video editing. Training is available to any professional who needs to improve their skills within a digital context and is designed for a variety of levels and understanding. Skillslab is aiming to attract clients from areas such as web design, interactive media, games companies, retail, e-learning, education and TV/film.

Skillslab has a valuable on-line presence at www.skillslab.org.uk so that professionals can have quick and easy access to the training on offer. Individuals will also be able to request either courses or consultations by simply submitting a form. The website will also enable the Digital Design CoVE to advertise one-off seminars, new training courses and current news as well as providing partners with links to their websites.
