City College puts shout out to GCSE results recipients

City College Brighton and Hove is promoting its course offer to students during GCSE results week to ensure that they are fully aware of the range of full-time vocational courses at different levels available at their local Further Education College. Josh Henly, a Carpentry student at City College, says:

'After my GCSEs, I originally decided to do 'A' levels at another college mainly because all my friends were going there but after a few months I knew I didn't really enjoy the classroom-based learning. After that, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and my brother suggested I check out City College. When I saw the massive carpentry workshop and met a few of the tutors I realised that getting a trade would be an ideal way forward for me. I would really recommend City College to students who've just got their GCSE results because there are so many options open to them here.'

'Being at City College has been great for me personally because the learning is a lot more practical and hands-on and you feel that people know you as an individual, not just part of a pack. You can learn at your own pace and are helped to get where you need to in a friendly, relaxed way. I've also had the opportunity to travel to Kenya with the carpentry team to work on a project to provide housing in a deprived area which was an amazing experience.'

Students who already have an offer with the College will be seen at their scheduled enrolment date between 31st August and 10th September and those with concerns about their results will be able to talk to a tutor during their enrolment session or they can get in touch with the College's GCSE Clearing Team now on 01273 667766. Those who haven't yet applied yet can contact the INFOpoint Team on 01273 667759.

The College will also be hosting a clearing event in collaboration with other colleges and providers to give information about Entry and Foundation courses. The event will be held at City College on Friday the 27th August from 1pm to 3pm at the Pelham Street campus and will include information on courses available at City College, BHASVIC, Military Preparation College, Nacro, Dv8, The Crew Club and Varndean College.
