City College recruits third City Jobs Adviser

City College Brighton and Hove has recruited a third ‘City Jobs Adviser’, Jon Paterson, for its City Jobs service which matches local employers with local, work-ready employees. 'City Jobs has become such a success that we really needed an additional member of staff to deal with the demand', said the College’s Head of Student Services, Kate Edwards. 'The wealth of experience that Jon brings from his time working with Skills Training UK and Brighton & Hove City Council will be invaluable when it comes to making sure we’re providing the best possible service to the community.'
Based at the College’s new Student Centre on Pelham Street, City Jobs provides employers from Brighton & Hove and beyond with a service to promote their job vacancies to thousands of current and former students from across the age spectrum. It provides a pool of quality, pre-screened applicants who have demonstrated motivation and commitment to a specific career by completing a course directly relevant to that particular sector. City Jobs also supports both candidates and employers by arranging ‘work trials’ which provide an opportunity to assess candidates’ suitability for the organisation/role as well as a dedicated space for employers to interview prospective candidates. City Jobs Advisers work to support students and other local residents to search for and apply to jobs that are advertised directly via City Jobs, the Jobcentre Plus website and brightonandhovejobs.com
