City College's Brighton Marathon trophies unveiled

12 April 2010

City College Brighton and Hove has unveiled the trophies which are going to be awarded to the first Brightonian male and female runner to finish the inaugural Brighton Marathon on Sunday April 18th. The trophies were designed and made by Fine Art student Cadi Froehlich. Cadi says:

'As well as being a major creative challenge, it's been fantastic to design trophies for such a massive event and on a professional level, I think it's great for my CV to be able to say I've accomplished something like this.'

Race Director Tim Hutchings says:

'I'm hugely impressed by Cadi's trophies. She's come up with a really striking, innovative design that manages to represent the event perfectly while also capturing the spirit of Brighton. I'm sure the winners will be proud to have them on their mantelpieces!'

Aside from sponsoring the trophies, 120 volunteers from City College will be helping on the day and the College will also have their own water station. Construction and art students will be assisting the marathon's organisers with the many structures that need to be put in place along the marathon route. In a further link between the two organisations, City College has provided the marathon's organisers with free SIA security training for their staff.
