City College Brighton and Hove Retail Trainer Marcus Pescod, the National Skills Academy for Retail ‘Trainer of the Year’ 2011, was thrilled to meet Mary Portas recently at an exclusive evening held by the National Skills Academy for Retail to celebrate the best skills shops and independent retailers. The retail guru presented Marcus with an award for the College’s success in delivering her Mary Portas Masterclasses as part of the Central South East Retail Skills Shop partnership. The series of masterclasses are an inspirational programme aimed at shop owners and managers who want to see their business succeed and flourish.
'Mary’s a huge inspiration to all retail trainers, including myself, and it was such a pleasure to meet her', says Marcus, who works as part of the College’s City Business Skills team. 'She’s really brought national attention to the importance of educating retailers to help make their shops stand out from the crowd and I was honoured to get her seal of approval for the way in which we’re delivering her masterclasses.'
