At just 22, Zachary Colbert, a Digital Media Design student at City College Brighton and Hove, has had an article published in the current edition of esteemed journal Philosophy Now. Since its UK launch in 1991, the magazine has grown to become the world's most widely-read English language philosophy periodical.
Rick Lewis, Editor of Philosophy Now, says:

Zachary Colbert
'Zachary's article, 'Death of the author and the web identity crisis', looks at themes of identity and trust as they apply to the web. We thought that our readers would enjoy his insightful and wide-ranging contemporary analysis of these topics, and that they have been left with something interesting to think about as they use the web. It's very rare for someone as young as Zachary to feature in the magazine and we were very impressed with his article. It's an unusually mature piece of writing."
Zac says:
'The writing started from a piece of coursework for the cultural and critical side of the Digital Media course. Our tutor introduced us to some philosophical texts and they immediately grabbed me, so when the piece of writing came about, I decided to send it to Philosophy Now. Finding out that it was getting published was definitely a very happy moment. It was like something you picture or dream about actually transpiring so I had to calm myself down to believe it.'
In the future, Zac plans to travel and make a living from his writing and he feels that his time at the College has been a fruitful one:
'Being at City College has given me encouragement and room to study and it's helped me flourish in whatever I wanted to do, thanks to the tutoring mainly but also the good facilities here.'
