Community Projects wanted for Prince’s Trust

23 September 2011

Another three groups of young people are set to begin the Prince’s Trust ‘Team’ programme at City College Brighton and Hove and they are on the look out for local community projects. The 12 week personal development and training programme is for unemployed 16 – 25 year olds and seeks to improve young people’s employability through undertaking voluntary projects in the local community.

Project co-ordinator Kyle Holman said, 'The community project is a fantastic opportunity for young people to give something back to the local area. For instance recently, a Prince’s Trust team helped a local community organisation, The Green Centre in Manor Hill, to transform their garden and children’s play area and they were delighted with the results.'

'What the Prince’s Trust team did in five days would have taken me five months', said The Green Centre’s Project Co-ordinator, Kate Chamberlain. 'They were really mature, hard-working and had a great team spirit. I’d have them back any time.'

City College’s hardworking Prince’s Trust volunteers are up for a challenge and waiting to hear from you, so if you have an idea for a community project which could take place in October, text PROJECT to 07912 387126. If you’re unemployed and aged between 16 and 25 and would like to join the programme in January, text TEAM followed by your name to 07912 387126.
