Courses offer foodie fun on a budget

16 December 2010

Amidst talk of a 'double dip recession' and widespread cost-cutting, City College Brighton and Hove is offering a range of new courses starting in 2011 which show how to organise meals, dinner parties and tasty feasts for family and friends on a tight budget. Course tutor Charlotte Hastings says:

'Cooking's been my big passion since my grandma taught me how to cook as a child. For me it's about effective use of resources being time and budget conscious but with the accent on enjoyable cooking. I recently put on a delicious and nutritious dinner party for nearly forty adults and children and managed to do it within a budget of around £80 ? and that included a few bottles of bubbly! A lot of people are anxious about their financial situation at the moment and my aim is for these courses to show them that eating well and entertaining at home can not only be done on a budget but also be a fun, therapeutic activity to be involved in.'
