Students studying ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) at City College Brighton and Hove recently put on an exhibition illustrating what they'd discovered about the area surrounding the College in Pelham Street, North Laine. The students are from countries such as Kurdistan, Poland, Spain, Iran, Slovakia, Afghanistan and Iraq. As part of their studies, they'd been encouraged to research the local area online and to get out into the community and speak with locals. Their final task was to write about something that they found particularly interesting and to represent it visually. Tutor Simon Chandler says:
'The students really engaged with the task and were amazed at what they uncovered.'
