Festive Fashion Fantasia at City College

15 December 2004

The sheer panache and creativity of this year's Fashion Show by Art & Design students from City College, 'Festive Fashion Fantasia', recently dazzled the audience in a packed Pelham Hall.

GNVQ Foundation/Intermediate students created 'Beaux Chapeaux' - headwear inspired by natural form structures. Foundation Studies students presented 'Metamorphose', a project inspired by architecture, contemporary and historical fashions to produce structures which transform the shape of the body. National Diploma in Art & Design (Year 1) students created 'Blanche Couture', a project inspired by an eclectic mix of historic fashions and explored through the manipulation of paper to produce body adornments.

Lecturer Jem Ryan said: 'The project was a really good opportunity for them to develop skills such as event organisation, team building, working to deadlines and improving their level of professionalism. The fact that these fashions are wearable is a testament to the students' hard work and ingenuity throughout the project.'
