Martin Perry's influential five-year term of office as Chairman of City College Brighton and Hove comes to an end in November 2008. Mr. Perry led the development of a Strategic Plan for City College which was instrumental in moves to transform the College's outdated buildings through a £100m Capital Development. He has decided not to stand for a further term due to his need to concentrate on the delivery of the new Brighton and Hove Albion Stadium at Falmer. The stadium will be incorporating an innovative work-based learning annexe for the College. Mr. Perry has been a member of City College's Corporation for six and a half years.
Phil Frier, Principal of City College says:

Martin Perry
'Martin has made a huge contribution to the life of the College. He has inspired members of the Corporation and the College Management team to become involved in a huge range of activities in the City and has led the Corporation with drive and enthusiasm.'
The Vice Chair of the Corporation, Peter Hofman, Director of EDF Energy, says:
'We are extremely grateful to Martin Perry for the leadership that he has shown over the last five years in working towards extending the role of City College into the local Brighton and Hove community. He has a passion for Further Education in this city which is driven by a desire for our young people to achieve qualifications and benefit from a wider educational experience. He has been an outstanding Chairman and contributed immensely to the work of the Corporation in improving the quality of FE in the City which was acknowledged in the recent successful Ofsted report this year.'
The new Chair of the Corporation will be appointed in September to lead the Corporation as it develops a new strategic plan for the College and to finalise the Capital investment plans over the coming year. The College's ambition is to become outstanding not only in terms of the new facilities but also in terms of educational opportunities offered to 14 -19 year olds and adults in the city.
