Prince’s Trust team make a difference at The Green Centre

22 July 2011

A group of young people on City College Brighton and Hove’s Prince’s Trust Team programme recently helped local community organisation The Green Centre in Manor Hill, by undertaking a variety of gardening tasks in the centre’s garden and children’s allotment.

Aside from getting stuck into the physical tasks of clearing debris, weeding and helping to complete the building of a wildlife pond, the team used recycled materials to make colourful garden decorations and also painted the garden shed. The Prince’s Trust Team programme is a 12-week personal development course which helps unemployed young people gain the skills and confidence to move into work or training. 'What the team did in five days would have taken me five months', said The Green Centre’s Project Co-ordinator, Kate Chamberlain. 'They were really mature, hard-working and had a great team spirit. I’d have them back any time.'
