Students organise 'Murder Among the Mateys' at Old Ship

20 May 2011

Foundation Degree Hospitality and Event Management students at City College Brighton and Hove have organised an interactive murder mystery evening entitled 'Murder Among the Mateys' at the Old Ship Hotel in Brighton on 3rd and 4th June 2011 from 7pm. Tickets cost £35 inclusive of a three course meal and a half bottle of wine. Guests can expect a lively evening of Pirate-themed shenanigans and proceeds will be going to Sussex Crimestoppers.

'Because of Brighton's location by the sea and the Old Ship Hotel being so steeped in history, the whole piracy and seafaring theme seemed to fit perfectly', says student Sophie Roberts. 'Organising the event has been a fantastic learning exercise because it involves a lot of organisation, team work and dealing with real clients.'

Tutor Julia Dickens adds: 'At a time when we're recruiting for our next intake of Hospitality and Event Management students, I think this event provides a perfect illustration of the type of hands-on event management skills that our current students are getting as part of the course.'
