A group of Hospitality & Event Management students from City College Brighton and Hove have organised a charity barn dance to raise money for Crossroads, the charity that supports those who care for a disabled, ill or elderly person at home. The 'Hoedown in B-Town', featuring famously rousing live act Kate's Kitchen Band, is taking place on Thursday 8th April at the Old Market in Hove.
Student Alima Boog says:

The 'City College Collective'
'Crossroads is a charity that's close to all of our hearts as some of us have family members who are carers and we know how hard it is. We chose to make our event a hoedown because of the fun element and how interactive it is with an audience, especially with an act like Kate's Kitchen Band who really know how to get a crowd up and dancing. It's also important that the event is helping us to put the theory that we've learned on our course into practice.'
The students' tutor Julia Dickens says:
'The students have thrown themselves in organising this gig and are clearly learning a lot from the experience. It's really helped them get to grips with things like planning, project management, budgeting, staging, strategic marketing and promotion which are vital in understanding the broader business of the events industry. By the looks of things, the night is going to be a roaring success thanks to all their hard work.'
Kate's Kitchen Band won't be the only attraction at the Hoedown in B-Town. As well as infectious music and new dance moves to master, there will be plenty of games to keep revelers occupied, including skittles in the main room, a raffle with top prizes put up by local companies, and a 'Best Dressed' prize for the nattiest cowboy and cowgirl in the room. For quieter moments, guests will be able to relax in the beautiful, ornate Old Market Bar and dig into the delicious ploughman's supper on offer.
Doors open at 7pm and admission is £10. Tickets are available from the Old Market on 01273 736222 or on-line at www.theoldmarket.co.uk
