TV Star Carol offers Screenwriting Expertise at City College

14 August 2006

Award-winning actress and screenwriter Carol Harrison will be passing on her expertise in masterclasses to be held at City College's Connaught Centre in October. Carol's TV work includes starring roles in EastEnders (as the exciting, fiery and passionate Louise Raymond), Kavanagh QC, A Touch of Frost, The Bill, Casualty and London's Burning. No stranger to film, Carol credits also include such acclaimed British movies as 'Human Traffic', 'Quadrophenia' and 'The Elephant Man'. From original idea through to final draft, students can learn the 'tools of the trade' from an industry professional who has worked with the legendary playwright Arthur Miller and Oscar-nominated director Alan Parker.

Carol says:

Award-winning actress and screenwriter Carol Harrison

'I am thrilled and excited to be working with City College. It was a difficult decision to leave EastEnders and return to education and complete my M.A. in Screenwriting. But it was a lifelong ambition and I thought, 'it's now or never'. My reward is to be able to pass on my knowledge and thirty years of experience in the creative world of theatre, film and television to my students.'

Covering the fundamental skills of film and scriptwriting through a combination of inspirational workshops and practical exercises, students will discover how to pitch to a producer, choose the right style and genre, structure a plot, develop three dimensional characters and create original dialogue. Carol will be holding both weekday classes and Saturday workshops at the College. The first evening course starts on the 16th October and the first Saturday masterclass is on the 21st October.
