The apprentice's apprentice!

29 July 2010

Sam Bishop, a former plumbing apprentice with City College Brighton and Hove who set up his own successful plumbing business at just twenty years of age after completing his apprenticeship, has shown support for the apprenticeship framework by taking on his own apprentice, John Lansdale (19).

Sam (23) says:

'I found my apprenticeship to be a great way to become a skilled plumber so when it came to my own business, it made a lot of sense to take on an apprentice. I'm glad to be supporting apprenticeships generally because the system served me really well and I'm sure John will thrive as an apprentice too.'

College Skills Advisor Lyn Drysdale says:

'We were delighted that Sam agreed to take on John as an apprentice. We hope more former apprentices who've set up their own businesses will follow his lead to help provide Brighton and Hove with the skilled workforce that it needs.'
